Steve Lap Wai Hui

Mr. Hui is a serial entrepreneur and an “Internet-techno” business oriented executive for over 35 years.

Major companies founded or cofounded by him:

In 1983, Everex System Inc. was founded at Mountain View, California, managed and listed by him in 1987 in NASDAQ (largest IPO in Silicon Valley for nine months). It was a PC, tape and “write in cache” company by innovation with annual sales of US$ 500 million plus and 1,500 employees worldwide by 1991.

Founded in 2003 and in 2011, Power-All Networks (HK) Ltd. was acquired for its technology and engineering as a subsidiary by Foxconn (an OEM leader in IT and electronics, ranked no. 23 in Fortune 500 in 2019 under its parent company Hon Hai with Foxconn having revenue at US$175B).

In 2008, FuHu Inc. was co-founded at El Segundo, California (one of the two companies in 33 years of USA history for being the fastest growing company consecutively for two years). The company was a leader in PAD computers for kids.

Others founded and cofounded are NxEra in 2014 on PxP e-commerce, PAC Block Chain in 2016, two others from 2019 to 2021: one in Fin Tech (Financial Technology) banking, the other one in heterogeneous computing and application platform.

Professional Contribution

In 2012, Mr. Hui was selected as one of the “Global Top 50 Chinese Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology” from China Economic Publishing House under the supervision of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China’s State Department.

Since 2017, He served for three Block Chain Research institutes (private and governmental ones) as their first principle.

He is currently serving as a co-chairman on a committee related to digital economy.

On behalf of Power-All Networks, he was an invited speaker for over 40 times on technical subjects in the past 8 years.

Current Interest

Mr. Hui proposed a Block Chain Ecosystem 1.0 – 7.0 in 2016 and had it implemented by 2020.

He and his team Created the “Universe” main block chain and held the first live demonstration of block chain running globally with throughputs of 100,000 TPS (Transaction Per Second) in a technical conference held in Beijing China under the guidance of the ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and others.

He has been developing digital life cycle banking for cashless societies and economies with CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currencies) .

He is working on a banking grade, high security and high throughput parallel Block Chain ecosystem for digital life cycle banking in the CBDC era.

Past Working Experience

In 1979 after graduate study, he was at Amdahl Corp. at Sunnyvale, California as an engineer in system development for the fastest IBM compatible mainframe computer at that time.

In 1981, he was at STC Computer Research Co. as one of the six computer architects for the world’s first large compatible IBM mainframe computer using today’s CMOS semiconductor technology and using Direct laser beam writer to build the CMOS chips. In 1983, he started Everex System Inc.

In 1999, he was the consultant of Henderson Group in Hong Kong and the chief technology architect of its subsidiary, OneTrend.Net

From 2000 to 2013, he was the president of the Henderson Technology Group, the President and principle architect of OneTrend.net, overseeing a 25,000 KM fiber backbone for telecommunications over 300 cities in China. Since then he has been running and crating new startups.

Mr Hui's Education

Mr. Hui received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1972, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1975, a Master of Engineers in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science in 1979 at the same university.

He worked at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (a national laboratory) as a graduate student scientist on designing fast capturing circuits for the Stanford Linear accelerators .
